Scripture for Life:
Jude 3-4
Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you
about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you
appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for
all handed down to the saints. 4 For certain
persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked
out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God
into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
A Deeper Look: The
intention of Jude was to write about the common salvation in Christ.
However his change in gears represents, his desire to see the believers
of his day and even ours realize the present dangers that have nestled
in among the flock. Make no mistake this is a war we are in, and we must
as Jude urges, “contend” for our faith, which is to say the we must
strive, struggle, maintain and even assert for the faith.
We can no longer sit by as we have and let the world dictate our faith
or worse yet allow the worldliness to have dominion at the head of the
table prepared for the groom. We must follow the commands of Christ and
His plan for salvation. The ending of the passage is unique in that many
of today’s programs/churches seem to be very “licentious”. If we look at
the definition of this word, “marked by disregard for strict rules of
correctness” we see how they themselves have become the nature of Jude’s
warning. See we cannot ignore the past or the correctness of what
Scripture teaches and we should not be so embraced by the world that it
dictates what we do, how we do it and most importantly who we allow to
be in charge of it. Even Satan can appear as an Angel of light.
Our prayer is that everyone in the body come to that place of reverence
and awe of God and His word, that in such a place that we would
seek to be and seek to please only Him, who is our propitiation, Christ
Jesus, it is there where the lost will be drawn by love and not by
worldly programs.

Romans 10:13-15
for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE
SAVED." How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how
will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless
they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET
OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"
